This stunning, graphic table set is created through a loom-controlled weaving technique, inspired by the art of Sashiko, using supplementary warp and weft on a Plain Weave ground. Sashiko (or "little stabs") is a traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique classically characterized by white running stitches worked on indigo blue fabric to decorate while mending and strengthening cloth. This pattern includes different treadling sequences for each of the four placemats as well as the runner – weave all five designs or pick your favorite!Ā Order a kit.

Equipment

  • 8-shaft loom (project utilizes 6 shafts)
  • 12-44 heddles per shaft
  • 12-dent reedĀ 
  • 3 boat shuttles + bobbins or 3 stick shuttles

Warp:Ā  Beam 3/2 Organic Cotton Yarn, 865 yds Acorn, 88 yds Robin, 88 yds Pacific.Ā
