Morse Code Towels

Summer and Winter threading blocks visually represent the morse code translation of Hugs & Kisses, aka “XOX XOX”. Long blocks stand in for dashes, short blocks for dots and very wide blocks are the spaces. A simple alternating treadling can weave a variety of motifs, from stripes to checkerboards, depending on which weft colors you choose and how you mix up the treadling sequences.  Order a kit.

Equipment

  • 4-shaft table or floor loom
  • 100 heddles per shaft
  • 10-dent reed
  • 2 boat shuttles + bobbins 

Yarn

Warp:  Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton, 1,670 yds Jam. 

Weft:  Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton, 685 yds Jam. Beam 3/2 Organic Cotton, 220 yds Sage, 310 yds Inkwell.

  • 17 PPI in Summer and Winter (8-9 tabby + 8-9 pattern)
