Light and Shadow Placemats
Designed by Jennifer E. Kwong
This placemat set is woven on two separate warps (one dark and one light) with two contrasting colors of Beam. The asymmetrical designs are created with a unique approach to Inlay that allows the weaver to enjoy the meditative flow of weaving with minimal interruption. Once the fabric is off the loom, the inlay threads are manipulated by hand to form playful line drawings. Order a kit.
Equipment
- Rigid heddle loom (Read about adapting rigid heddle patterns for multi-shaft looms here.)
- 12-dent reed
- 2 boat shuttles + bobbins or 2 stick shuttles
- Masking tape or tailor's chalk
