Jennifer Mao learned to weave in March 2020 as a way to channel her anxieties during the earliest days of the pandemic. As time went on, each new month brought a new bounty of delights—the first foray outside of the city to walk through a verdant forest, the shock of the first plunge into a cold lake, and the first changing crimson leaves.
 
We collectively stepped forward with each seemingly mundane experience, and every season felt reminiscent of the long, slow days of summer. This collection tells the story of an invincible summer in three acts: the summer solstice, the fall equinox, and the winter solstice.
