This stunning striped bathmat is an excellent project for weavers ready to advance beyond basic Plain Weave patterns. The substantial warp and weft create a beautiful ribbed effect, while the distinctive bars and stripes come from alternating colors in specific sections of the warp. Thick weft picks make this a quick weave. Order a kit.

Equipment

  • Rigid Heddle loom 
  • 12.5-dent reed 
  • 1 boat shuttle + bobbins and 1 stick shuttle, or 2 stick shuttles

Yarn

Warp:  Mallo Cotton Slub, 480 yds Eclipse, 480 yds Icicle. 

Weft:  Mallo Cotton Slub, 25 yds Eclipse. Beam 3/2 Organic Cotton, 450 yds Licorice.


Specifications

  • 23" weaving width
  • 25 EPI (ends doubled in 12.5-dent reed)
  • 7 PPI in Plain Weave, 3 PPI in pattern (thick weft)
  • One bathmat, 21” W x 28” L after wet-finishing and hemming
